Not Just Language Analysis – Our New Summer School “Large Language Models for Digital Humanities Research”

Since 2018, the University of Cologne has been hosting a regular summer school dedicated to machine learning – which means I’ve had the pleasure of being part of the organizing team and its academic coordination for eight years now! This year’s edition will once again take place in the second week of September.

After several years with a strong focus on language analysis and deep learning, the spotlight this time is on Large Language Models in Digital Humanities Research. We’re excited to present a rich and varied program, featuring an introductory workshop followed by no fewer than four parallel, specialized tracks. We’re also thrilled to have assembled a group of outstanding experts to lead these sessions – you’ll find all the details in the call for applications below.

Announcement: Summer School – Deep Learning for Language Analysis #7 (2024)

We are very pleased that we can once again offer a summer school in ‘Deep Learning for Language Analysis’. The Summer School will take place from 17 to 19 September and there will again be two parallel tracks on processing audio and text data. In the text track this year, the focus is more on LLMs and prompting. The programme will be complemented by two keynotes and a social in a brewery.

All important information about registration can be found in the Call for Participation below and on our website. If you want to get an impression of our former Summer School, you might find it in the blog post I wrote about the school in 2022.
